Iwanai Central Hokkaido Area
The roadside rest area is opened in the Iwanai Marine Plaza district built on the former site of the Japanese National Railways Iwanai station.
Centered on the visitor center Tara-Maru-Kan designed to represent a yacht, there are the Kinjiro Kida Museum, the Iwanai local culture center, the carillon monument symbolizing Iwanai and the beautiful park with the motif of water, light and sound, such as fountains.
Among them, the Kinjiro Kida Museum completed in 1994 is the most popular attraction, it keeps about 100 works drawn with powerful brushwork such as such as the Iwanai Port and Mt. Iwanai.
This museum is designed by Mr. Kida’s son.
