Located along National Highway 12, the roadside rest area “Takikawa” is placed halfway between Sapporo and Asahikawa, and it is the best place to take a rest.
The prefectural road crossing National Highway 12 runs east-west direction: on the west, it reaches to Mashike and Rumoi in the Sea of Japan region via National Highway 275 and on the east reaching to Tokachi area including Furano and Obihiro via National Highway 38.
So it also serves as a hub for region-wide travel.
On the other hand, it functions as center for green tourism in Takigawa, backed by the feature of agriculture and forestry areas.
