Locaed at the mouth of the Abashiri River in which fishing boats passing and seagulls flying over, the roadside rest area “Ryuhyo-Kaido Abashiri” is one overlooking the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko Peninsula.
The rest area offers providing a variety of local information including tourist information and selling farm and marine products, and it offers the perfect base from which to discover drifting ice as a departure/arrival port for icebreaker ship “Aurora.”
